Session defaults

• Subjects: checked subjects are included; unchecked are excluded. Select at least one (or use Select all).
• Difficulty: checked difficulty levels are included; unchecked are excluded. Select at least one (or use Select all).
• Questions per session: quick-select 5 / 10 / 20 / 40, or tick Use custom amount to reveal an input for any value between 1 and 200.
• Question pool: choose New + incorrect, New only, Incorrect only, or All questions (includes previously correct).
• Optimise order: once unlocked, we’ll front-load weaker topics to maximise practice impact.
• Reduce similar repeats: optionally limit a Start New Session run to at most one question from each similar-question family. It is off by default, is remembered for future Start New Session runs once changed, and the availability indicator switches to “unique concepts” when it is on.
• Question bank: open Question Bank from navigation to pick a specific subject/article quiz. Free learners receive the curated 7-question set; Premium learners receive every unseen question for that article, regardless of these New Session defaults.
• Start session: you can start from the top card or the button above Advanced options; both launch with the current selections.

Live availability

• A plain “(n questions available)” indicator appears beside the subject-selection count for your current subjects, difficulty, and question-pool choice.
• Subject cards show an attempted/available breakdown (and percentage) to help you spread practice across the bank.
• For lifetime stats (average score, trends, focus subjects), use the Dashboard.

Advanced options

• The accordion tucks away enrichment settings so the main layout stays focused.
• Question-pool options change what is eligible from your answer history; the availability count updates instantly.
• Reduce similar repeats is for variety: it reduces repeated concepts within the selected session, while leaving deliberate repetition available when the toggle is off.
• Question Bank article quizzes override these New Session defaults: free learners receive the curated 7-question set, while Premium learners receive every unseen question for the selected article.
• The optimisation hint tells you when performance thresholds unlock smarter ordering.

Timed options

Toggle Timed session to expose:

• Total time limit (required, 60 to 14,400 seconds).
• Per-question cap (optional, 10 to 1,800 seconds).
• No back to mirror exam rules by locking earlier questions.

When the toggle is off, the fields gray out and remain read-only.

Tips

• Autosave means you can adjust one filter at a time without pressing a separate save button.
• The availability chip changes as you click. Use it to ensure you have enough questions before starting.
• Revisit this page whenever you want to change defaults; otherwise jump straight into Resume to keep working.
